It’s nearing the end of February and I’m only just getting round to my first blog post of the year.  There’s lots happening behind the scenes.  Shame on me that I haven’t made time before now to tell you about any of it.  So let’s dive right in with The Art Boat 2024 plans.

My focus at the moment is …

Getting Ready!

It won’t be long before The Art Boat is out and about and meeting people again.

This is the time when I plan my trading route, paint,  make sure I have plenty of prints, cards and mugs, and paint some more, before I set off in March.  I also have to check that my awning and shelves can manage another year and make necessary repairs. There never seems to be enough time, and the winter always flies by.

Good news! I’ve reinstated the events page on my website.

Pop-ups are always dependent on weather and securing a mooring so keep an eye on the events page for exact locations.

 Playing with mixed media

It’s been a busy few months.  A brand new series started, using collage and acrylic on 6 inch cradled boards.

I’ve had a gelli plate on my wish list for years and this year I got one in my Christmas stocking.  I’m already addicted, and love making the tissue paper collage papers that I have been incorporating into these new mixed media pieces

New Minis

Mini Mondays are being revisited again this year.  Measuring only 2.5  x 5 inches, I’d forgotten how much fun it is making these little paintings. I have a selection framed and ready to take with me to my first Pop-up at Marple this weekend.

Essex Bridge

My first Floating market of 2024 with the Roving Canal Trader Association has been booked for Easter. I didn’t make it to Great Haywood last year as I was on a different route, but I’m really happy to be back!  To celebrate my return I’ve painted the Essex Bridge.  Lilydog and I spend lots of time walking by this beautiful bridge when we are in the area, so I felt inspired, to paint it again.  I last painted this bridge early last year for a large commissioned piece.

This is the painting of Essex bridge that  I will have with me at Great Haywood this Easter

I’m really looking forward to The Art Boat 2024 tour.  I’m taking it slightly slower this year to give myself time to paint and enjoy.
Lots of familiar places, and a few new ones.  I’ll keep the events page on my website up to date so you can find me…remember exact location for pop-ups will be confirmed when I know exactly where I will be.

Hope to see you somewhere on the cut,

Take care,

Jan x
