Canals and Rivers. An Exploration in Paint
Acrylic and mixed media paintings that tell the story of the landscape, people and wildlife of the rivers and canals and their changing moods and seasons
.
I’m Jan, a traveling artist, living and working aboard my narrowboat “Tonka”, aka The Art Boat.
My artwork is inspired by the peaceful, ever-changing scenery I encounter along the way – from tranquil waterways and lush green countryside to urban grafitti covered bridges.
I want my paintings to be more than just art for your walls – I want them to evoke feelings of peace and reflection, and offer you moments of escape from the everyday.

“My mission is to create art that is reminiscent of familiar scenes and immerses the viewer making them feel that they are part of the story “

“The sense of tranquility in this particular painting attracted me and I could almost picture myself there, absorbing the crisp morning and hearing no sound except the ducks in flight.”
