A Bridge For All Seasons – Summer Bridge
The inspiration behind the original Summer Bridge painting
The atmosphere and colours of spring first drew me in to this view of a bridge on the Coventry canal. I was also fascinated by the little door in the bridge, hiding the area where the stop planks are kept. It was only after I had completed the Spring painting that I decided to do it as a series of 4, and paint the other three seasons. The rich greens of Summer were the most challenging of the seasons to paint. I loved the challenge! The figures under the bridges (different in each season) tell their own story . This listing is just for the one woodblock, Summer Bridge, but you will find the others under the category heading “Woodblocks – square”
A hand finished canvas print on a small square 9.5 cm (3 .75 inch) stained woodblock. approx. 18mm (3/4″) deep
NOT JUST A PRINT…
Printed on real canvas, and mounted on a stained woodblock. The print has gold and other highlights added by hand using artist quality acrylic paints. It is then finished with two coats of carefully mixed matt and gloss varnish to protect and give a low sheen finish
The block is stained, signed and varnished on the back which is left plain so that you can decide how you want to display it. They are suitable for freestanding on the mantle-piece or coffee table. You can attach a picture hanger and hang on it’s own or in a group, or use as a paperweight.
